Park City Winter Favorites


Following another blockbuster storm this week, the conditions at our resorts are out of this world. With this season's epic snowfall, we still have a couple more months of skiing and riding to come!

To make sure you don't miss a thing when you're off the slopes, we've compiled a list of some of our "Winter Favorites" in and around town. These activities will have you exploring secluded trails, enjoying indulgent après ski opportunities, and finding new ways to get out and enjoy the remaining weeks of winter. Whether you're a seasoned winter enthusiast or a first-time visitor, there's something for everyone.

Tubing at Woodward  |  Woodward Park City is a popular destination for winter tubing, offering visitors a fun and exciting experience. The tubing park features multiple lanes and a magic carpet lift. Additionally, visitors can enjoy an assortment of other winter activities at Woodward, including freestyle skiing and snowboarding on the many rails, jumps, and half pipe. If you get a little cold outside, just head indoors to grab a snack and beverage before enjoying some indoor trampolining.

Tubing at Soldier Hollow  |  Winter tubing at Soldier Hollow in Midway features several tubing lanes that vary in length and speed. Visitors can also enjoy other winter activities at Soldier Hollow, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and sleigh rides.

Sledding at Mountain Dell Golf Course  |  Mountain Dell Golf Course is 
located on I-80, just downhill from Park City near Lambs Canyon, and is a popular destination for winter sledding. The assortment of hills at the course offers a variety of sledding opportunities for families and thrill-seekers alike. The golf course is open for sledding as long as there's enough snow, usually through March. Visitors need to bring their own sleds or rent them from local shops.

Viking Yurt Dinner  |  Viking Yurt Dinner is a unique dining experience at Park City Mountain Resort. Guests ride a snowcat to the top of the mountain to enjoy an authentic Norwegian dinner inside a cozy yurt with live music. The panoramic views of the mountain and city lights make for an unforgettable evening. There is still availability for this season!

Blue Boar Inn  |  The Blue Boar Inn is tucked away in Midway and is a cozy, European-style inn that offers a fine dining experience with an emphasis on locally-sourced ingredients. The elegant and intimate dining room boasts a fireplace and rustic décor, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The menu features seasonal dishes, such as roasted duck breast and elk tenderloin, along with an extensive wine list. Be sure to check out the owner's Olympic pin collection and great photography from the 2002 Winter Olympic Nordic events held at nearby Soldier Hollow.

Soldier Hollow Nordic Center  |  Soldier Hollow Nordic Center, which was the host venue for the 2002 Winter Olympic Nordic events, provides a wonderfully-maintained trail system that offers scenic and challenging cross-country skiing, skating, snowshoeing, and fat tire biking fun for all skill levels.

High West Saloon  |  Park City is known for its lively après-ski scene. Our local favorite is High West Saloon. Located at the base of Park City Mountain's Town Lift, this popular spot offers delicious cocktails and tasty bites in a rustic, western atmosphere. Their award-winning whiskey is a must-try.

St. Regis Bar  |  For a more upscale après-ski experience, head to St. Regis Bar. Located just up the funicular that ascends from Deer Valley Resort's Snowpark base, this elegant spot offers stunning mountain views and a vast selection of cocktails and wine.

Wasatch Mountain State Park  |  Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway features stunning snow-covered peaks, lakes, and Snake Creek with groomed trails that are perfect for novice snowshoeing. Rentals are available.

Round Valley  |  Round Valley offers miles of looping trails and spectacular views of Park City Mountain and Deer Valley Resort. With multiple trailheads from every side, Round Valley offers outstanding accessibility. 

Iron Mountain Trail  |  The Iron Mountain Trail is a popular, moderately-strenuous winter hike in Park City. The trailhead is located near Park City Mountain Resort in Iron Canyon with very limited parking. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the city below. The Iron Mountain Trail is a great option for those looking for a scenic winter hike with a bit of a challenge.

Coyote Trail System  |  Seasoned snowshoers will appreciate this trail system, located on the north side of the Heber Valley. It is easily accessed from the upper parking lot behind Utah Valley University.

Summit Meadows Adventures  |  Operated by Deer Valley Resort, Summit Meadows Adventures is located on a beautiful 7,000-acre private ranch, just eight miles from Historic Main Street in Park City. Tours feature riding through meadows and on trails, as well as access to a beautiful viewpoint overlooking the ski resorts and surrounding mountains, where guests can rest and enjoy some photo opportunities.

On the Rocks at Black Rock Mountain Resort  |  On the Rocks at Black Rock Lodge, located on the north side of the Jordanelle Reservoir just east of Park City, offers a cozy and inviting bar experience during the winter months with an upbeat atmosphere and stunning mountain views. You'll love the variety of craft cocktails, local beers, and an extensive wine list. It's perfect for fireside enjoyment after a day on the slopes and is located away from the hustle and bustle of Park City.

The Vintage Room at Deer Valley  |  Right off Deer Valley's Deer Hollow Ski Run, just uphill from the St. Regis hotel, is the unique Vintage Room. This unique watering hole is housed inside a large glass structure, providing an unforgettable après ski experience. The cozy and elegant bar offers the perfect ambiance to relax and enjoy a glass of your favorite champagne.

Taggart's Grill  |  If you're looking for a cozy, off-the-beaten-path spot for winter dining, especially if you are traveling to Snowbasin or Powder Mountain, consider Taggart's Grill in Morgan. The restaurant is located in a restored historic building and offers delicious American fare with a local twist, including Utah trout and wild game. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a fireplace and wood paneling adding to the rustic charm. You'll also frequently enjoy seeing the peacocks that roam the property. Don't miss their "Mile High" onion rings and carrot cake!

The Lodge at Blue Sky  |  If you're looking for a dining experience that combines rustic elegance with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients, you can't go wrong with The Lodge at Blue Sky. As you sit by the fire in the cozy dining room, you'll feel like you've been transported to a remote mountain lodge but with the added benefit of knowing that everything on your plate has been thoughtfully sourced from nearby farms and ranches. And if you're lucky enough to be there on a snowy evening, the magical setting will only enhance the delicious food and warm hospitality.

Run-a-Muk  |  Run-a-Muk, in Park City at the base of Utah Olympic Park, is a great destination for dog owners in the winter months. The area is completely fenced in and has over 4 miles of easy hiking trails, making it a perfect place for kids and off-leash dogs to play and explore. For those seeking more challenging trails, there are on-leash dog-friendly options across the street. Just be sure to wear shoes with good grip or microspikes and use Mushers Secret Wax for your dog's paws to protect them from the snow and cold.

Soldier Hollow Sleigh Rides   |  Rocky Mountain Outfitters' private sleigh rides at Soldier Hollow are the epitome of a magical winter experience. Picturesque views thru the snow, the finest horses, and a cowboy at the helm are sure to please!

While you might not catch as stunning a scene as the one captured above a few days ago by local photographer Brent Haddock, there are plenty of amazing places to spy your own wildlife in action.

Red Ledges  |  Red Ledges, located in Heber, is a private lifestyle community that offers a unique, winter wildlife viewing experience. The area is home to a variety of wildlife such as elk, deer, foxes, and even the occasional moose. Members and guests can take a hike or horseback ride through the picturesque landscape while keeping an eye out for the local wildlife. With stunning views of Mount Timpanogos and the surrounding Wasatch Mountains, Red Ledges provides a one-of-a-kind winter wildlife viewing experience.

Round Valley  |  Round Valley in Park City is a popular destination for winter wildlife watching. Visitors can see a variety of animals, including elk, red foxes, and various bird species. It is important to be prepared for the cold weather and check ahead for any closures due to snow and ice.

Tiger Woods' design firm, TGR, has announced its latest project, the Marcella Club, an 18-hole course to be built as part of the amenity bundle for Marcella at Mayflower Resort. It will be Tiger's fourth 18-hole original design and his first in the Rocky Mountain west. Projected to measure over 8,000 yards from the back tees, including a par 5 (the 10th) that could be stretched to over 700 yards and a par 3 (15th) that tips out at 292 yards. The course will be part of 36 holes to be shared by Marcella Mountain and Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge, with private homesites available for purchase at each. Construction on Marcella Club is scheduled to start in Summer 2024. Please reach out to be kept up to date on this new community and offering.
